The dispatch board: crews, skills and routes
The Dispatch tab shows your technicians down the side and the days across the top, so you can book work by dragging it where it should go.
Steps
Book work
- Click the Dispatch tab. Jobs with no day, or nobody on them, wait in Needs scheduling at the top.
- Drag a job card onto a technician's row, under the day you want. The board books it at the first time that day the whole crew is free.
- To send a whole crew, drop the card on the crew's row at the top of the board. Every member goes on the job at once.
- To take someone off a job, drag the card back to Needs scheduling.
- To plan a technician's day, click Route in a day that has two or more jobs. The panel shows the driving before and after.
- If the new order is shorter, click Use this order. Nothing moves until you do.
Set up skills and crews
- Click the Crew tab and scroll to Skills and crews.
- Type a skill, for example Gas, and click Add skill. Tick who holds each one.
- Under Working hours, click Set hours for each technician.
- Under Crews, click New crew, name it, tick who is in it, choose a Lead and click Make crew.
- On a job, tick what it needs under Skills this job needs.
Good to know
- While you drag a card, the technicians who hold every skill it needs are highlighted. A skill nobody on the job has shows in red.
- Skills are a warning, never a block. The board books the job and says who is missing what.
- A day off shows in the cell as Off. The board will not book over it.
- Booking outside someone's working hours asks you first, in case it is overtime.
- Route times are a straight-line guess, not road directions. A job whose address is not on the map goes last; pin it on the customer's page.
- Jobs already under way are not moved. Call customers who were already given a time before you move them.
- Owners and managers can set Days start from: in the route panel, by pasting a map link to the yard or office and clicking Set.
- Only owners and managers decide who holds which skill. Dispatchers can make and change crews.
